I like this bag but I don't quite love it and I think I know why. I've recently tested and reviewed several Thule backpacks and hydration packs, and Thule is known for making bags that can handle heavy loads while still remaining lightweight, and the Osprey *not quite* lives up to that. Osprey is certainly strong. It's made of a thick, dense material that seems capable of withstanding a nuclear blast. The seams are so secure and strong that I think they will support my full weight and not a single seam will tear. The ribbed memory foam style back protector feels like serious protection should I fall off the bike and land on my back. All of this makes the Osprey Transporter "tough" but also feels a bit "bulky" compared to the Thule backpacks I've tested. Just to clarify, bulky doesn't mean big. This bag is actually just the thing for an everyday backpack or a work bag. Inside, there's enough room for a large laptop and tablet, a water bottle, your lunch, a change of clothes, and various gadgets, but it sits snugly against your back when you carry it, making it damn comfortable. If Osprey had used materials that felt a bit thinner and more flexible for the bag body, that would have been an easy 5 star rating, but I think the high 4 is well deserved here.
