Review on Aqua Pure Whole House Filtration System by Chris Spoja

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great price, great system, simple solution!

We recently bought our new, last, forever home and we liked everything about it except the water smelled awful. We've always preferred well water, but we couldn't remember the water smelling that bad when we toured the house before closing. We tried activated charcoal shower filters but they did very little and I was beginning to think they would never soften. We looked at all the existing methods and this system seemed like the best option if it would work. The filter changing method is by far the best available which is why we chose Aqua-Pure. I installed it with CPVC and added a front sediment filter. Pumping took about 3 hours. After we finished late at night we checked the shower for an odor and it was still there but not too bad. It disappeared completely the next day and has remained so ever since. We had to drain all the old water from the water heater before the smell went away. We have had clean odor free water for a month now and I cannot say enough good things about this product. We'll see how long the filter lasts but I'm hoping we have 6 months to a year before we replace it. Great price, great system, simple solution. Update: 2 1/2 months later and our water is still odorless. I see some bad reviews for this product and believe the premature filter change is due to not using a sediment filter before the AquaPure system. I use a 50 micron front filter and have to backwash it weekly and change the reusable filter monthly due to sediment buildup. If I didn't have forward spin I probably would have hooked up an AquaPure already. 3M STRONGLY RECOMMENDS using a front sump filter and I am confident that this will give me maximum durability from AquaPure. When my centrifugal filter is clean, I have maximum water pressure in my well. Update - August 15, 2021: We have been using this filter for 5 months now and have learned a lot about our fountain. Our well is 480 feet deep and has a flow rate of only 3 GPM. Our previous house had a well that wasn't as deep, but the water flow was better. We learned the hard way that you can't slide and slide for grandkids without loading the fountain. When overused, we see a lot of algae in our rotary filter, which is in front of our AquaPure filter. Algae clogs the 50 micron filter, so we have to rinse it several times a day to restore optimal water pressure in our home. Our unfiltered water smells a lot like rotten eggs, but the Aquapure filter removes 100% of the smell. I've seen many people complain that the filter doesn't work long, but I'm convinced it's because these people didn't use a pre-filter on their system. The instructions strongly recommend installing a pre-filter before the Aquapure and I suggest a 50 micron slingshot as we have been running our Aquapure for 5 months now and I am amazed that it can remove all odours. I believe that we are approaching a useful life of 12 months. I am also very happy with our iSpring 50 micron centrifugal filter. I will update if AquaPure needs changing. I would give 6 stars if possible. One more note. AP917HD-S, AP917HD and AP910R are interchangeable with the AquaPure quick change system. I bought replacement filters to have when needed. I tried the AP910R because the description still says it has a charcoal filter, but that's not true. Unlike AP917HD-S and AP917HD, AP910R does NOT contain activated carbon. The AP910R didn't remove any odor from my water so don't make the same mistake and buy an AP902 system or AP910R replacement filter when trying to remove bad odors from your water.
