So the first thing I did was take the comb out of a very nice aluminum box with a window and threw the comb on the floor. And nothing. So it's great for its purpose (traveling with it in your pocket, etc.). I never liked putting my clunky wooden beard comb in my pocket, not because it broke, but because it didn't have a coating to keep other things in my pocket from touching my teeth, which then got transferred to my beard. .It appears to be made of three pieces of wood, 2 for the comb 1 for the handle. Thick, nice grainy, not sure if it's all sandalwood or just teeth. The metal hinge is adjustable but still works well. If you loosen it, you could break it like a knife. Not my favorite comb as I feel either the tine section isn't long enough or the handle gets in the way of brushing my cheeks, but it makes a nice addition to the herd and serves the purpose well.
