I drink a cup of hot coffee in the morning - straight from a single cup. Then switch to iced coffee for the rest of the day. I've used the first cup in the stack for at least 10 infusions and now there have been no side softening leaks. The main reason this cup design lasts so long is the overlap between the inner and outer layers. Approximately 3 inches overlap between two layers. In addition, there are no noticeable leaks on the underside. Another observation; Several reviewers complained that the cups didn't come apart. Instead of just tugging on the upper lip roller, place your thumb or forefinger under the lip roller and gently rotate the cup toward the vortex. They'll pop right out - in fact, a few cups sometimes come with the ride. If you're a creature of habit, remember that the vortex changes direction a few cups, so watch what you're doing. they are also quite frugal. In my opinion, these cups are a shame to take away!
