, I have 18 years of professional broadcasting experience and after using this product for more than a month I would like to say the following. I think this VCR has amazing potential. I LOVED the idea of a standalone VCR that didn't require a separate computer to record. Just one click of the record button and it does its job. That's all! No more hassles to worry about. This type of device should be easy to set up and use, and I appreciate that type of feature. Another feature I liked was that you can record from HDMI, VGA, YPbPr, AV, Audio L/R, External Mic. I can see this would be very appealing to MANY users across the board, from consumers digitizing old home videos, amateur users and even professional pro users. For OUR purposes I wanted to have an HDMI recorder to record from the HDMI output of our BlackMagic ATEM TV STUDIO mixer. Our church's video production setup uses 2-3 video sources to switch for 40-50 minutes each on Sundays, so we wanted an easy-to-use video recorder that could record at professional video bitrate for long enough that we could publish the video to YouTube . . We didn't need a high-end professional recorder, we needed one that could do the job, so I decided to give it a try. But in the end I could only give this product two stars for several reasons. A BIG reason I had to put a low reason is that recordings always have a video error that causes the VIDEO to lag the audio by half a second. But this error occurred 4-8 times within 40-50 minutes, so by the end of our recordings, the video and audio were out of sync by 6-8 seconds. This audio/video asynchrony is totally unacceptable even if you're just a consumer. I can't imagine how this error could be okay in every entry. This was also in the raw recordings and there was simply no way to fix this error. Another reason I gave it a low rating is the quality of the final video. In device settings you only have 'Low, Medium, High' recording options, but what bitrate are you recording at? I was told the high quality option was around 10-14Mbps (variable bitrate too, and there's no way to switch it to constant bitrate), but the raw footage didn't reflect that in any way. The only way to convey this is to watch a GOOD, PROFESSIONALLY recorded YouTube video, set the playback quality to 1080p, and then compare it to the 480p setting. It just lacks sharpness. Very blocky, very fuzzy, and therefore Cloner Box Pro's maximum recording quality will only be really useful, maybe for VHS digitization. but still not very useful if you want a lip sync video! Customer and technical support were very quick to respond to my emails and even allowed me to give them some suggestions and feedback on their device. They did their best to help me troubleshoot and even wanted to send my raw video footage to them for analysis, but in the end they just said "we'll try to fix it in the future". Unfortunately that last answer left me no choice but to return it and they agreed they would refund my money. I would rate the customer service and technical support 5 stars! I only wish there was a product like this! As far as I know, there is no other standalone VCR that can accept all HDMI, VGA, YPbPr, AV, Audio L/R, external microphone video inputs, USB stick recording and playback, and HDMI loopback . out, and handy, really easy to use. I'm serious. This item would be a gem to keep and use in our church video production! My most recent bugs with this device are listed below: - Troubleshooting video/audio sync issues. - Correction of the quality of the final recording. - Offer H.264/H.265 instead of .mp4
