Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Godox 5600ยฑ300K: The Ultimate Wirelessly Controlled Brightness Solution by Bob Schultz

Good quality of light but more than I expected

I didn't know about the Bowens mounting system before I bought it and thought it was for small flashes. This flashlight is actually quite large, so it's not particularly portable if that's what you're after. It is about 125mm in diameter and overall about the size of an American football. The case is made of plastic but feels very solid and is nicely shaped, just like real photo gear. Since there is an LED in the lantern, the plastic housing on the aluminum heat sink is not exposed to heat, so it is suitable. I'll probably take a tool bag to carry it around. 650w incandescent bulbs for studio lighting, but they are daylight balanced and therefore perform better than incandescent bulbs (incandescent bulbs get very dim when daylight balanced with CTB). If you look at it directly, it seems like you are looking at the sun. I checked the power consumption with kill-a. -Watts, and that's more like 75W than 60W, but some of that could be power conversion losses. I think it might be a bit brighter than I was expecting for just a 60W LED, so I'm happy. I don't know how long it is. Reliability but I've worn it for several hours with no problems. I received all the accessories well packaged. The barn doors are attached to a shell deflector that snaps into place and requires a spring pin to retract to release, so it feels secure and looks like a proper bracket. The comb goes into a recess in the barn door. The gels are in a slot in the barn doors and have magnets to hold them in place. Honeycomb and gel holder can be used at the same time. The colored gels seem pretty useless, but I think I could put some good CTOs (tungsten-orange color temperature) in one for mixed use.

Pros
  • Steady
Cons
  • Some small things
