Review on πŸ’» HP Ultra Slim Docking Station G2 D9Y32 - Enhanced Connectivity and Versatility for Effortless Productivity by Tre Boyer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Includes AC adapter, two-step plugging/unplugging

Docking station includes an HP 65W AC adapter which is implied but not specifically listed in the product description. I am using this dock with a working Elitebook G3 850 and cannot report any issues yet. I use audio out, ethernet, a USB3 and a DisplayPort. I couldn't find a firmware update for it on HP's website, although it may be related to my company's firewall. Please note that the included power adapter has a much larger barrel connector than the Elitebook G3, so they are not interchangeable. Unlike most inexpensive power supplies, this power supply hides a third vulnerable connection wire in what appears to be a standard barrel connector. I took off one star because docking is a two step process (pierce laptop with guide pins, then slide dock). lever on the side), which isn't as intuitive as previous HP docks where you just slipped your laptop onto the pins and it worked. I shudder and think of the day I forgot to spread the docking lever and try to undock my laptop from the docking station. Due to the thinness, all the various connectors lie directly on the table surface, which is not a big problem for me, but if you have old cables with thick connectors, this can lead to stress on the connectors. Otherwise a good fit and finish with all the features you would expect from a docking station at this price point.

Pros
  • Compatible with HP EliteBook laptops and tablets
Cons
  • Legacy model
