The light sewing foot was simple and very easy to attach to the sewing machine and even produced straight stitches. However, notches/steps are not marked to help the beginner identify the seam allowance for each step. I would have thought that Singer would have provided this type identifier, OR at least noted and included information on each notch seam allowance with the instruction packet (1/8, 1/4, 5/8, 1 inch). Getting a straight seam is certainly good, but knowing the right seam allowance is most important for the project you're doing, especially if your sewing machine doesn't require it. The main reason I bought this presser foot was to teach my granddaughter how to sew without a pattern or tracing paper. I thought this little foot would be perfect. Don't buy if you need to know how much seam allowance will fit in each notch without having to measure and/or mark. If you're buying with a quarter-inch allowance, you might want to consider buying a quarter-inch presser foot or making a machine plate with painter's tape.
