I love these warmers and my cats do too. So I ordered four and donated two to the local wildlife sanctuary. I keep my house at 68 degrees so they use them almost all the time as you can tell by the fur on the lid in the photos. Despite the appearance, I wash the covers regularly with no problems. :) I like that I can keep them all the time. I know when they're unplugged because my cats suddenly want to snuggle next to me (to keep warm) instead of lying on heating pads. I have had great luck with the pads that I have purchased which are durable and continue to perform well. I bought my first one over three years ago and it held up until my foster dog snuck right through the inside corner by the cord and then stopped working. The dog was fine, there was no fire (it burned when it did). But after chewing on the rag and plastic lids, it didn't get hot, just flared up when I turned it on. I didn't realize it was being chewed until I saw the flashing lights and examined it. Then of course I had to throw it away. And then I bought another one due to demand for cats as they don't like to share or cuddle with each other. Seems like some people don't have such high quality versions. I've ordered mine at different times and have found the quality to be fairly consistent. I also found that for some reason they are much hotter when cats (or even my Kindle) are on them than when they've been idle for a few hours and then I'm touching them. When I have it on full power it's too hot for cats. They prefer to keep the pads consistently on the fourth heat setting.
