We bought a 42-inch Vizio flat screen from a friend for $20. It worked fine but there was no remote control. . My wife now uses it as a second computer monitor but she needed a remote control so we ordered this. It worked great after the included batteries were installed. Worth the little money it costs. By the way, just to make you think that they lost the remote control through carelessness, I should mention that we visited their house a while ago. I gave one of their remote controls to their two-year-old son and asked him to throw it away and he ran right into the kitchen to order to do it. Mom may have pointed an unhappy tongue at me while chasing after him. Apparently, the two-year-old thought it was a fun game and would probably toss any remote control he found within reach in the bin. I find it funnier than my parents.
