This is my third purchase - the first was in 2004 and when we moved in 2016 it worked just as well as it did the day it was installed. The current door was installed before we moved in. My problem is the design of the mount. 5 small head screws on the top of the flex valve. When the pawls are retracted and extended, the valve is torn off the screw heads under pressure and is therefore inoperable. Just ordered my 3rd replacement (4th door total) in 2 years. It would be nice if there was a metal strip to clamp the valve between the screw holes and the head, or a couple of small washers. Is there a chance of getting a design change from the manufacturer? I'll try to find some pucks and see if that works to buy me some time. In the meantime, I'm going to the post office to pick up another valve. EDIT: I bought the pucks and put them on, let's see how it goes. Looks like the pucks did their job. It's been a while, everything seems fine. crossed fingers I still think the manufacturer should include a metal strip to keep the plastic intact. There's no reason not to.
