The whole story - We spent months researching the water systems! We have a well and water; Iron (orange spots), manganese (gray and black spots and spots), and smelly hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell). Emphasize! But eventually we found a system we liked and could install. (It didn't have that filter. We added that filter later which is great!) We just installed a new 3 filter system for our entire house, we have well water, iron and manganese and it almost did the job. ISPRINGLittleWell 3-Stage Iron, 100,000 Gallon Manganese Recovery. Whole house water filter with sediment and silt block. Model No. WGB32BM. To pre-filter the new system, we added a small centrifugal filter in a small transparent housing with a screen. Simply twist the handle and flush as needed. Everything works great except that the "rotten egg" smell hasn't gone away entirely. (in order; 100 micron rotary filter, then Big Blue 3 piece set, which was in this order: 1 sediment, then 1 carbon block, then 1 iron and manganese filter. So, back to more research, and we have this one Filter Found Randomly found a large 20" x 4.5" blue case and ordered this filter (APEC FI-KDF85-20BB Water Systems, 20" Whole House Replacement Water Filter, Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide), and finally we have it clear clean water with a sweet taste! It's been a few weeks and so far so good. This filter installs AFTER the wringer filter and sediment filter. Just add a Big Blue housing between the wringer filter and the 3 piece system, then easy remove the sediment filter, put in a new one, and then put the sediment filter in the new big blue one (the order should be as the water enters your filtration system: 1st centrifugal filter, 2nd sediment filter, 3rd this apex filter , 4. carbon filter) b lock where it was, 5. iron manganese where it was note down filter 3 and filter 5 diff no! If, like us, you have bad water and the rotten egg is small, you need both. I'm just a homeowner looking for a solution and tired of hearing conflicting information. This works for me.
