Skip this, worst build I've ever seen

Good idea, good size, but skip this product. I bought for my workbench to organize some micro tools. We needed something simple and fast, we just don't have time to build something for ourselves. I'm a retired furniture maker and make miniatures for a living now, so I'm pretty good at building things. I have never seen a worse mounting method. You really need to go back to the drawing board in this case. It's made of melamine/laminate covered with 1/8 inch MDF which is good as it's a very small organizer. The problem is the slot and nose design. It's CNC machined, but the tabs are sloppy in the grooves so you can't properly glue the joints to ease assembly and strengthen the joints. Then they guide the groove when the HUGE screws have to go. I understand that the groove is needed to keep the sides from blowing through, but why are the screws thicker than the material! To top it off, these over-thick screws are too short to actually reach the end of the groove.! Eventually got I used some glue to hold it together long enough to make some pegs that I could use with small screws to hold things together I could create a scratch in about the same time but with a lot less swearing. It would be a lot better in Solid wood or even raw MDF where the wood glue would negate the technical flaws.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues
