Considering the price of this set I was impressed with the quality of the props and how quickly our 8 year old grandson (and his 6 year old brother) took up tricks. Here Grandpa helped Patrick learn this trick and then worked on his presentation. The guy is a showman by nature and he enjoyed entertaining us. The silks hidden in the purse were a huge hit. The number guessing cards were amazing, although the numbers drawn were slowly being scratched off the wooden cards. We were struggling to understand one of the tricks where a coin slides into a box and appears in a pocket in a hidden smaller box. We also believe that a storage box should have a zipper; and it takes some "magic" to put all the pieces back in. I saw a young man bring some of these tricks to school to show his classmates. I think 8 years old is a great starting age for this set, and maybe 7 years old. I wish I had had a set like this when I was a kid.
