Review on Complete Moving Kit: 36 Boxes, Tape, Bubble Wrap, And Packing Paper For 2 Rooms by Michael Hale

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Boxes were small and cheap, value-adds (packing tape, etc) were useless

Wasn't completely unusable, but was certainly disappointing. I think you get to a point where you are just so used to getting great deals from Revain, that when you get a crappy one, your whole world feels like it's falling apart.I was renting a unit in a duplex when the house was condemned. I thought it might happen, so I ordered these boxes in advance. When the house was actually condemned and I had to vacate immediately, the boxes had not yet arrived, so I bought some boxes from the local Home Depot to hold me over. The boxes eventually arrived and overall, the boxes were boxes. They weren't great, but weren't bad. I still used them. The problem was really that they were smaller and of lesser quality than the Home Depot boxes, but cost more. They were certainly smaller than I had expected, and if you look at the pictures, smaller than the equivalent boxes from Home Depot (The UBOXES medium was more like a Home Depot small). The cardboard was also a little less durable. The "Smart Move" labeling was really novel but ended up being worthless because the adhesive was terrible. I would stick it on and it would rub right off with the slightest friction (i.e. sliding another box on top). While it seems like a neat idea, in practice, permanent marker is a MUCH better solution, as there's no chance of it rubbing off, leaving you wondering what's in the box and where it goes. The tape dispenser was flimsy and worthless, same with the packing tape (1 roll?). The plastic tabs on the tape dispenser snapped off almost immediately when I loaded it with scotch tape instead of the crap tape they sent me, leaving the tape to constantly stick to itself. The tape that was included was thin and I wouldn't trust it AT ALL to hold the bottom of a box.The packing paper was good, as was the bubble wrap. Hard to mess that up tho lol.If I was to do it all over again, I would just go to home depot. You have more of a selection over box size and durability (they have heavy duty boxes, which was great for computers, pots, and entertainment center stuff), and I'm pretty sure it was less money than I spent on this package from UBOXES. Plus, it's local. Just go grab what you need. If you're short a few boxes, just run and grab a few more.It gets 2 stars because the boxes were still usable, but overall I would not purchase these again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

Pros
  • As advertised
Cons
  • The tape included in the kit may not be strong and durable enough to securely seal boxes
