4.5 stars! on my review.

Only dinged this below a 5 score because it is a rip off for what it is.however, it worked! I loved the split die set up, I had butchered threads at the end of my drag link and I filed it down first to make round again, then placed this on the good threads and backed it off to rethread.did this a couple times and then the nut went right on.

Pros
  • Durable: Made of high-quality steel, this thread chaser is built to last. It is designed to withstand even the toughest use and is sure to be a valuable addition to any mechanic's tool set.
Cons
  • The indexing pins can be easily lost or misplaced, rendering the thread chaser useless

worked great for my opinion

worked great on my 1959 thunderbird. Was worried that i was going to have to replace the studs but this saved it. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Kind of a pain to keep the two halves engaged, but works well and if you need a split die this one works
Cons
  • The Steelman Professional M14-1.50 Metric Split Die Thread Chaser requires a lot of strength to use effectively

It works! - my new review

I rated this product once, it works exactly as it should well made and not junk! Saved me hundreds of dollars. I did not have to replace steering column.

Pros
  • Tire & Wheel Tools
Cons
  • This product is not very portable or easily stored due to its size and shape

Worth its weight in gold!

Once you have the proper threading and buy the correct one, OMG. I bashed up the last three threads when taking off a shock absorber. badly! Took the nut to an auto store to get the correct they threading, preserved this, put some oil on as I backed it out, and BOOM problem solved. This is amazing

Pros
  • Thread size - tool fits M14-1.50 metric threaded bolts and fasteners on cars, trucks, etc.
Cons
  • The thread chaser only works effectively when used with a lubricant or thread compound, which adds to the overall cost

Great product: my feedback

While shipping was a little slow, the steelman chased the threads on four wheel studs in ten minutes. It was worth the wait. I’m glad I did not have to replace the studs. That would have taken hours. Great product.

Pros
  • Cost-Effective: By using this tool to repair damaged threads on wheel studs and bolts, mechanics can save money by avoiding costly replacements. The Steelman Professional M14-1.50 Metric Split Die Thread Chaser is an affordable investment that can pay off in the long run
Cons
  • The Steelman Professional M14-1.50 Metric Split Die Thread Chaser is not a beginner-friendly tool and may require prior knowledge or experience to use effectively

Perfect for my application

This was the perfect tool for what I needed. It is designed to clean up damaged threads. It is not designed to start new threads. While the price I paid ($25) seems a bit high, the tool saved me $360 and over 8 hours of work. Before stumbling upon this tool, I didn't even realize these existed.

Pros
  • Works good the chase the messed up threads
Cons
  • The Steelman Professional M14-1.50 Metric Split Die Thread Chaser may not work well on threads that are extremely worn or damaged

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Eh. Not a favorite. Would NOT buy again.

Does what it is supposed to BUT it's a pain in the butt to get the pins lined up and in all the way. I HIGHLY recommend getting a hindged unit instead. It's a million times easier to use.

Pros
  • With the Steelman Professional M14-1.50 Metric Split Die Thread Chaser, thread repair is done quickly and efficiently. This tool cuts down on repair time, allowing mechanics to work on other tasks and complete jobs faster.
Cons
  • The thread chaser can be challenging to use with precision, making it less effective for delicate repairs

Could work better: my feedback

If this had cap screws instead of pins it would be excellent. As it was I used vice-grips to hold it closed. Tedious but it did the job.

Pros
  • I had a bolt that was partially stripped and it took some strength but all in ll it got the job done.
Cons
  • It can take some time to get the hang of using this thread chaser effectively

Needed to chase a couple of wheel lug stud threads on my Dodge 2500 and obviously couldn't get a typical "tap & die" on them. Found this and gave it a try. Wow! I couldn't thread a nut on before due to a cross thread by a tire guy but after a bit of working by hand (the 35MM deep socket came later), everything went together like butter. I'm keeping this and the matching 35MM deep socket in my truck toolbox so it's always available. Very high on my best performance for such a simple tool.

Pros
  • The tools are of good quality and the carrying case is convenient. A good value.
Cons
  • The thread chaser can be quite noisy to use, which can be annoying

Great buy if you need to go from the bottom out.

Worked perfect for what I needed it for, saved me over $100 vs. replacing a drag link due to crushed threads. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Indexing pins - indexing pins hold the die sections together to keep them straight during use
Cons
  • The indexing pins can become misaligned during use, which can cause even more damage to the bolt or stud

Life saver on my review.

I had 3 wheel studs in very bad shape after a tire shop messed them up , this chaser worked amazing on them. This product requires a significant amount of torque to use effectively, which can tire out the user.

Pros
  • Restores Thread
Cons
  • This product requires a significant amount of torque to use effectively, which can tire out the user

Perfect for wheel studs

Great quality tool! I never knew these existed, now a must have. Brilliant idea, starting it on the threads where the good threads are.

Pros
  • Needed to clean some paint out of some lug bolts. The tool worked well
Cons
  • The product is not easily adjustable, which limits its usefulness

Maybe this is my fault

I pretty confident that my screw as the correct size. 12MM x 1.5 pitch. I measured it with a caliper and compared it to the specifications in the Machinery's Handbook. However, I did not use a pitch or screw gauge. I could have been slightly off. . but I highly doubt it.If this was the correct size, it did not fit correctly. I was impossible to get the treads to line up, even with good threads. I was unable to use it. However, if you are in need of repairing a thread on an expensive part and…

Pros
  • Worked exactly as advertised.
Cons
  • The Steelman Professional M14-1.50 Metric Split Die Thread Chaser is not effective for repairing threads on certain materials, like aluminum or brass
