Review on πŸ”’ Apexstone Soft Close Lid Support: Ensuring Safety and Convenience with Soft Down Lid Hinge (Set of 2) by Daniel Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Get ready to feel really dumb

I used to think I was smart until I installed these bad guys. No kidding - I have a masters degree and it took me 2 hours, 1 mental break and about 3469302583 holes to find the right spots. The installation instructions on the box didn't work for the intended use I had for it (holding the toy chest lid but also preventing it from closing on my son's fingers) so I had to use it. Obviously there is a tolerance of 0.00005mm I was allowed to make so that the lid stays open when you push it up, but also closes slowly all the way down to avoid squeezing little kids fingers. It ripped the hinges out halfway on the first try, so I can now use wood putty, sand, and repaint (which I already did when I bought the damn toy box from Craiglist). Brilliant. They work really well now that I've figured them out, but be prepared to feel pretty stupid and incompetent installing them. Still I give 5 stars because it (finally) does what I want it to!

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
