BIG dog kicks. My mini dachshunds can go up and down these steps with no problem! You are perfect! They are well made and look very nice. The gray fabric cover has a zip to remove for washing. This is by far the BEST PET LADDER I have ever purchased. I have three other types of pet ladders in my home and have been using them for over 10 years and these are my favorite dogs and my favourites. I've posted a photo of my old staircase below. My dogs climbed them but never got off. They didn't feel safe enough to move around. NO PROBLEM WITH THESE NEW STEPS! That's great! Buy it. Forget others. They are strong, agile and light.
