This extends the life of the lamps
Always unplug the microwave before changing the light bulb. According to my conversation with the company, the lamps only lasted about a day. Since I unplugged the light prior to replacing it, I had no issues with blown bulbs for several days. Second, don't touch the bulb with your bare fingers, use a paper towel or napkin. Oil on skin may shorten lamp life.
