Not for video, gaming and medicore image quality

I took a chance buying this monitor because there were no decent (or not decent) reviews available online for this particular model when I ordered it (September 2021). Suffice it to say that this monitor is only acceptable but not really good at anything. The main issue I had with this monitor is a very noticeable grid of diagonal lines that appears briefly when motion is involved. I have uploaded a picture for better description. This image was obtained by capturing a video while moving the camera slowly in front of the screen and then extracting individual frames with ffmpeg. Movement means, for example, the movement of the player character towards the building in the game, the movement in the video, and even when I'm looking at a still image, the change in my position. The grid overlay only appears for a split second, but the repetition gets really annoying over time. A longer screen distance improves things, but at 40 inches (1m) tall, I'm already sitting farther from the screen than most people. I mounted the display on a monitor stand at my desk so I can flexibly extend the distance, but of course that defeats the purpose of getting a bigger screen in the first place. I wanted 4k resolution at 100% Windows 10 scaling, but at further distance I would have to upscale it to 125%. This is the exact zoom I used with my old 32" 4k screen, so it looks like I played it myself. Some pros and cons: (+) The monitor is well packaged and protected by a huge, large box. (+) The device comes fully assembled, including a heavy and durable stand. (+) The kit includes all necessary main cables. (+) My standalone "copy" has no dead pixels, corner flares, or other imperfections. (+) HDR in Windows 10 is supported without any problems when using standard Windows PnP drivers. (+) Aside from the motion issue, still images and text look acceptable and there are no other artifacts visible. le in games and videos at 60Hz. (+) The screen has a DP output that allows you to daisy chain up to 4 monitors (-) The description of the item is misleading as this monitor does not support 75Hz at 4k supports. According to the manual, 75Hz is only supported at 2560x1600, 1920x1440, 1440x900 and a few lower resolutions. I can't even confirm the latter, because even with my iVANKY 8K DP (4k@144Hz) cable and RTX 3090, 75Hz is not available at any resolution. (-) Colors, especially in HDR, look washed out regardless of the selected preset or manual setting. (-) Text at 100% scaling looks pixelated at the edges but is still acceptable. This improves when switching to a dark theme. (-) The manual often only lists the settings without explaining them. So trial and error is inevitable. (-) Web monitor only drivers fail to install due to error messages. The installation of the signed Windows 10 driver failed, stating that the detected monitor is not supported. A manual extraction revealed that the package only contained drivers for the predecessor VX4380-4K (and older models), but not for this model, the VX4381-4K. However, the VX4380-4K driver can be installed manually. but I saw no improvement over the standard PnP drivers and went back. The unsigned win 10 driver installer finally completes this by winning that the operating system is not supported -.- -.-(-) The joystick control for the OSD is terrible as the OSD frequently points to different joystick directions for the same navigation shows. All in all I will keep this monitor as it is technically sound. But still waiting for a better solution. Of course there are several other options, but all have their own problems that have kept me on the sidelines.

Pros
  • Good quality for the price. I use it for programming and light gaming.
Cons
  • I want to replace a defective monitor.
