After 8 hours of installation this seems like a great system. Situation: I recently moved into my dream home on a piece of land in the Texas Hill Country. We have well water here with a softening system. My under-counter ice maker, from which I typically pull a 5-gallon bucket of ice each day, produced little more than a gallon or two of ice in my new home with bad water. Research has led me to the realization that these ice machines require more water than most reverse osmosis systems and deliver higher pressure than most reverse osmosis systems. After looking at different systems, I decided on this one at a fair price. Disadvantage: I'm a very skilled craftsman with a high level of dexterity and mechanical aptitude. I didn't time the install, but I estimate it took an hour or two. The system isn't incredibly complex, but the resulting system differed from both the included instructions and the YouTube videos. The YouTube video was certainly very informative, but it also left a lot to be desired. If you can't reverse engineer what the guy in the video is doing and apply that to your particular setup, which may look different than his, then I think it's going to be very difficult to install. The words he used when talking about the different filters did not match the words printed on the filters. More problematic was that the connection in the storage tank was still leaking. Dealing with it probably took up a quarter to a third of my total setup time. After at least five attempts to screw the valve onto the tank, only to have it slowly leak while prepping the system, I finally threw away the teflon tape they sent with the unit and used Blue's professional grade teflon tape.Monster, that I have and the problem was solved on the first try. On the plus side, the system seems to be doing a great job of producing larger volumes of water and higher pressures. Quick couplings are relatively easy to use. The system came with extra parts so a few small fitting parts that were either missing from the unit or that I lost during installation wasn't a big deal as there were some extra parts. While the device is a bit messy, it packs a lot of things into a compact design very effectively. It might be plenty for under the sink, but luckily mine is in the utility room behind the ice maker. Future: I don't trust the amount of plastic hoses and small fittings. As far as I can tell this is unavoidable and therefore does not detract from the five star rating I feel this product deserves. On the inlet water line I will install a normally closed solenoid valve. I'm going to tie a switch to my home automation system so it can be turned off remotely. In addition, I will add a set of moisture sensors underneath the unit and set up a basic ITTT (if this, then that) sequence that will automatically turn off the water in this system within 5 seconds of detecting moisture. If you are using a normally closed valve that requires electrical power to stay open, in the event of a power outage the valve will automatically close so my home is still protected. With this type of protection, most of the water that can flood my home is in the system's reservoir. Final Thoughts: I bought this unit to service my ice maker. 8 hours after installing this reverse osmosis unit, the same ice maker almost filled its tank with crystal clear ice. The reverse osmosis system does its job perfectly! The ice machine actually produces nicer ice and faster than our previous municipal water supply. I'm glad this device was made available for purchase and have no reason to believe it will be any different. I will update this review if my opinion changes.
