Worked for me but external power requirement was annoying

I bought this mainly because I needed the low profile version and wanted USB 3.0 ports, but when I opened the box I actually saw a small piece Paper that tells you to connect the power supply to the board. Reading the Revain description here it says "with AC adapter attached" meaning external power is optional, but the document seems to say otherwise. To be honest, I don't know whether the card works without a power connection, because I didn't want to risk it. Also, I looked at the vendor's website and from the way I read it implied that external power is optional. Since I was using self-powered USB devices, I might have skipped this step if I was sure the card would work without a network connection. When I tried to install it, I found that the computer I plugged it into didn't have extra MOLEX power connectors. It actually only had SATA power connectors and only 1 was free. Since the card didn't come with any cables, I had to run to my local computer store and buy a SATA male to MOLEX patch cable in addition to the MOLEX Y-cable so I could extend the cable far enough to reach the card. .Windows 7 requires a driver to be installed, so that's what I did. Therefore no problem. Anyone considering buying this card should make sure they have the extra power connectors and extra cables they need as none are included in the package.
