I was deceived, in the name "Vintage bookcase without metal and wood" there is the expression "Without wood", which should be a clue, ie there is no wood in it (except chipboard). Yes, the description under the heading mentions chipboard, I should have noticed before buying. Based on the title I figured I'd get solid wood shelves, my bad (sort of). I wanted something fairly stout to hold music books that weigh a lot. It really isn't powerful enough to do that for sure, although so far it seems fine; I'm a bit worried about chipboard shelves sagging over time - only the bottom and top shelves have center support, the rest of the shelves only have edge support, and the top shelf isn't exactly great for books. So I only have one fixed shelf. In addition, the metal parts are very thin steel tubes. However, it's working well so far. knock on wood. unfortunately they are not. There are no bars or plugs to keep the books from falling out of the ends. It's not a dig, I knew I would (I permanently attached plexiglass end plates). You can use bookends but they will slip and slide as vinyl covered shelves are pretty slippery. When the shelf arrived I immediately realized it wasn't as strong as I thought it would be, but it's too difficult to return. so big and heavy so i installed it and it works. Just read carefully before you buy, or maybe even go to an actual store to see what you're getting before you spend it. Other reviewers complained about the blizzard of static, sticky pieces of foam that are very difficult to clean. Yes, that was my experience too. Do not rummage on the shelf itself, but spoil the overall impression of the product.
