Review on MAYFAIR Toilet Easily Remove Padded by Sean Maile

We purchased this Mayfair 13EC 000 (round) padded toilet seat for a Mansfield toilet which has been newly fitted with a Luxe Bidet Neo 250 bidet. Just arrived and installed yesterday but it does have its pros and cons. As an upholstered toilet seat, it looks like it will serve its purpose - hopefully for at least a year. The seat itself is soft. The lid is less padded, but the good news is that the wood core makes the lid feel more comfortable than other brands. An unexpected disadvantage is that when in a vertical position, the cap rests against the tank shut-off lever, which after a short period of time causes the cap to become permanently dented. If the materials for the outside of the lid were a bit thicker and stiffer, this would be less of an issue. On the plus side, however, for us the lid doesn't fall off in the way some other male buyers have described. The patented screws used to remove the seat for cleaning are actually well designed. I pray the plastic holds up but for now they actually make the seat nice and secure. However, unlike the video, I don't intend to change the seat every day to look like new. (Can you imagine guests stumbling over a pile of toilet seats in your closet?! There's no limit to my eccentricity. LOL!) The real bummer is that the vinyl peels right out of the packaging, even before I've installed it in one spot at the very edge of the seat. I've noticed that this is a common complaint about this and every other padded toilet seat at Revain, so instead of sending it back I just glued it on and cleaned my clumps. However, I expect more goodbyes. Manufacturing is designed so that the vinyl stretches from the outside edges as you sit, so a weak or perforated seam along the edge is doomed to tear. So I don't expect it to last long. I'm not sure why quality control remains an issue with upholstered dressers. If they had a higher price, which meant a correspondingly higher quality, I would be first in line. Perhaps manufacturers think that a soft seat can only be an inferior product. (Forgive the awful pun.) When this wears out, I'm tempted to salvage the seat's wood core and put my sewing machine to good use so that next time I can reupholster it myself and use quality materials. It wouldn't hurt to try. If that doesn't work I might end up buying another Mayfair as they tend to be the best of a poor selection of soft seats.
