Weak laser and pain to use - not the best laser level

I like Craftsman Tools and have several different tools from this brand with mostly positive experiences. This laser level is not one of my favorites from Craftsman and 9 times out of 10 I would rather use one of my regular levels and save myself the hassle of using this laser level. If you're looking for a basic laser level that you can use right away, this probably isn't a good choice. The main issue is versatility. Unless you're working with open studs or in a commercial building, a home user probably can't readily use this level without purchasing a tripod. This fact should be the focus of the product page. This line laser in the form in which it is sold is practically unusable. There are magnets built into the included plastic mounting bracket - where will the home user mount them? Alternatively, you can nail it to the wall, but the appropriate applications are too limited and I don't want to drill a hole in the wall to use a spirit level. I have a tripod and recently used this level on a small DIY project involving running cables through a wall. This revealed another problem with this product - the laser is too weak. I set up the laser level about 10 feet from the wall I was working on in a well-lit room and could barely see the laser. Again not worth the effort. There are better options for do-it-yourselfers and of course also for professionals. For example, the 9250 Laser Line Level has an adhesive putty that makes wall mounting very easy and quick, making it the best alternative for the average homeowner.
