Review on Enhanced Home Appliance Surge Protector πŸ’‘ - Voltage Brownout Outlet 110V 15A (2 Pack) by Jeff Robeson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best in this price range, but with some disadvantages (some of which can be significant)

Nice product. Contrary to the previous review, I have a standard 2 outlet US plug and both can be used with ease if you install it on the top outlet. The minimum undervoltage is 105V, which is probably normal. However, there is no overvoltage configuration. I believe the default is 140V, which is a lot for a fridge. Since the voltage in the US is 110 to 120V (hover), I would prefer a maximum deviation of 5% and leave the overvoltage at 130V, this is not possible with this device. The delay is also not user-configurable. It is set to 3 minutes. I prefer to leave it at zero as most fridges have compressor protection built in, even those over 15 years old. When I need it, I want it to be customizable. Finally, it says it offers surge protection, but nowhere does it mention the number of joules or protection types like LN, LG, NG, etc. I would ignore this product for any viable surge protection. Almost all such devices on the market today offer EMI protection. It does not perform EMI filtering. For a standard household compressor, such protection is important, and besides, every time you turn on the refrigerator, it introduces electromagnetic interference into the wiring of the house. But these aren't critical flaws, so I still give it 4 points. If they (the manufacturer) provided documentation on how to tweak these settings in the board, that might be great.

Pros
  • Simple and clear indications: When the device's voltage rating reaches the maximum/minimum power rating of the protection device, it automatically disconnects the load/power. At this time, the "LOW VOLTAGE" / "LOW VOLTAGE" indicator will light up to warn the user about the voltage and use of the device.
Cons
  • Weight
