The fluffy fabric that surrounds it is silky soft and velvety. The foam filler is firm and supportive. The format is interesting in that I could use it in 3 different sizes and shapes of sinks. When my son was about 15 pounds, the bathroom sink became very narrow. I haven't used it in my kitchen since because I have a very deep single sink and I think the sink might actually be too big. My child has never hit his head on the edge of a sink. The foam is thick and soft enough to provide comfort. I was able to hang it on a towel rail to dry, on a drying rack, on a suction cup on the side of my dryer, and on a suction cup on the side of my tub/shower. Thanks to the storage clasps, it is very convenient to put away or take with you on a trip. I took my son to my dad's for a swim and it was easy to take him to the bathroom after the pool. I also have an inflatable swimsuit, which is more compact and cumbersome. I find this carrycot to be the perfect balance between compactness and ease of use. I love that it's machine washable so I can be sure it's clean and safe. We add a little Lysol laundry sanitizer to the laundry and rest assured that things will stay clean. Luckily he hasn't pooped on it yet, so I can't say how it will turn out. I hope this information was helpful.
