Cables work just like USB cables, not a big gray area. (They either work or they don't. And these ones do.) But the design is crazy. If nuclear war ever broke out, years later people would search the rubble and only find two things intact. Cockroaches, of course, because they'll survive anything, and those cables. I'm actually thinking about getting another one in my 4x4 truck so I can use it to get people out of the mud when they get stuck. ;-)
