I wanted my small, low power PC that only has two SATA ports to add some extra power add storage. Motherboard (Low Power "Desktop" - no PCI slots). In this cart, instead of pulling out the DVD and making room for the 2.5" drive and throwing away the only regular SATA power cable, I simply replaced the DVD drive with the 2.5" drive and the power cable in the Optical drive style repurposed. Viola! Clean, organized installation, keep spaghetti to a minimum. My only disappointment wasn't with this product, rather my only available motherboard SATA connector (the one for the optical drive) was SATA II and as a result my 2.5 SSD drive wasn't as fast as the drive otherwise would be.
