I don't understand why so many people are dissatisfied with this product. The only wear I noticed was minor and it was where the velcro touched the fabric. I didn't take the tire off and take it off all day and didn't straighten it all the time; maybe others, and that's why it happened to them. People have complained about the price but I felt the price of the product was fair. I haven't gotten a bill from the clinic yet, but I suspect I'll be charged more for the cast and gauze bandage than I paid for two splints. Yes two. If one gets wet (accidentally or washed) I wanted a dry one. I changed my tires daily (I wore them every other day) to give them a chance to air out. I was wearing the half cast they had in the clinic for about a week, but I hated the fact that I had to move my whole arm and rotate my shoulder. I cut the cotton gauze to remove half of the plaster. I wore the splint during the day and the cast at night (wrapping it in a first class bandage) for fear that the beatings while sleeping might disrupt the healing process, and the cast provided the firmest support. I removed the splint while showering but tried not to hold soap or a back brush with my hand as this could put pressure on the bone before healing was adequate for it. Some people complained about the landing. I didn't tighten the straps tight enough to stop circulation. My goal was to keep my ARM from flexing while the 5th metacarpal healed and the splint did. I did little with my hand; It was broken and needed maintenance. It was difficult because I'm right-handed and had to learn a lot with my left hand, which made it take a lot longer. I didn't expect the splint to allow me full use of my arm while it healed. If you use this product as intended - a device to immobilize your hand is sufficient to ensure proper healing while allowing you to rotate your wrist (which is slightly more comfortable than the alternative) while tending to your injured hand - I think you will doing it will be satisfied.
