good but not the best for big wide tape measure

I like the idea of this device. I need some duct tape as I'm a carpenter but I often don't like carrying a full tool belt so I decided to give this device a try. Overall it's probably good, but there are a few things you need to know. If you like having a big, thick, and wide measuring tape, there just isn't enough magnetic force to keep the measuring tape secure all the time. mine keeps slipping, sometimes because it's moving too fast. I think if I had a cheap Stanley tape measure, the $7 variety, it would be thinner and lighter, and this device probably works a lot better. The other problem, which is both good and bad, is that there is a metal washer that screws onto your tape measure. replacing your clip. This metal disc should fit securely into the recessed magnet housing on the belt clip. The tolerance for a metal disc to fit in an indentation is very small and little effort is required to ensure the tape measure is secure. it's not instantaneous, but it takes me a few seconds for it to "click". So while I'm waiting for the wide tape measure that I spent $30 dying for, I can swap it out for a cheaper, thinner tape measure that I think this tape measure holder would be a better fit for.

Pros
  • Linear measure
Cons
  • Something else
