I wanted something as my iPhone 5S, which is larger than my iPhone 4S, hit the windshield when I was unplugging it pulled (I use the ProClip holder). I couldn't decide between this or the GN02 5" and given the cost of returning it I decided to try both. I found the 8" vibrated too much and I was carrying it too far from my windshield. for my taste (I have a 2007 Mercedes E350). But if you can mount it so that the part can rest on the dash or somewhere, it also works well for pushing things off the windshield. Btw I was hesitant to buy the 5" GN022 as I couldn't find one. Check it out and it doesn't attach by a traditional lever mechanism but rather by turning a ring (you can see the knobs for this on the big end if you look up). Since the windshield is tilted, moving the bracket higher/lower on the window doesn't help. Turns out 5" works great! It gets me a little closer, which is an added bonus, holds up well, hasn't fallen off yet and has minimal vibration I commute about a mile over brick pavement to and from work each day so it's a much tougher workout than most people in terms of vibration.
