Review on 🎵 Jensen SCR-68C: Premium Stereo Cassette Player with AM/FM Radio by Frank Garahana

This is a really simple, no frills and no frills portable cassette player with AM/FM radio. Overall, this Jensen player performs better than the currently available Sentry and Memorex cassette players. The build quality of this device is acceptable for the price, but don't expect 90's AIWA/Sony Walkman quality. The body is made entirely of plastic. It's solid enough in your hands, but it doesn't feel as "premium" as the devices from the '80s and '90s. The sound is stereo and decent. It doesn't have a "Bass Boost/Mega Bass" function, so any bass-heavy music will sound a bit muffled. The included headphones are not very good. Use different headphones (not those for smartphones/microphones as they may be connected differently) for the best sound. In terms of performance, this unit will play all new cassettes with no issues. Some older tapes may sound distorted if not "loosened" because the tape may have stuck together in storage or the plastic rollers may have warped and become stuck. Try tapping the sides of the tape lightly on a hard surface to release the rollers and wind the tape forward/backward to release the stuck tape. Note that some really old cassettes can be completely damaged by weather or magnets (body deformation, tapes, etc.) and will most likely never play properly. Also note that this device does not have a rewind button. This is typical for younger players, even from the 90s. Note: Players "eating" your belt means the rubber drive belt is loose. Either replace the belt drive or return the unit if still under warranty or send it back. The radio works just as well as you would expect from a dial-by-dial radio. This player should work well for people who want to list audiobooks. on tapes, new cassettes and some old cassettes that have been proven to play flawlessly. If you listen to a lot of old cassettes, invest in a head cleaner as this player can become clogged with old dust and slow down performance. This Jensen cassette player (model SCR-68BL) is currently the cheapest "new" portable cassette player. which I didn't want to send back right away.
