Great value motorized pusher with great customer support

UPDATE: 6/22/21 - Upgraded to 4 stars 3Neewer was kind enough to contact me immediately after reading my first review and offer a free replacement. Stupidly, I threw away the original shipping box, so I had to pay UPS $17 for a box big enough to hold the slider to complete the return/replacement. Anyway, I did some quick and dirty pre-tests and here are my initial thoughts. Freeplay: This still exists, but it's only really a problem if you're manually working "on" the base of the camera. If you want to use the motor to tilt up and down to move left and right, simply place the slider on a smooth video ball head (like the Cayer K3) and tilt the entire slider, not just the camera on top. sliding block. Basically I sandwiched the slider between two smooth video ball heads and I've noticed that trying to tilt the camera with the top one while sliding with the motor judders and shakes, but when I just tilt the bottom one (under the slider) Video ball head, you can pan and tilt really smoothly when you want without camera shake. I'm going to invest another $60 for the support arms to stabilize the movement at the ends with just a tripod and I'm gliding on this thing with the BMPCC 6K installed and probably within 12-15 pounds. Trembling/stuttering when sliding down the middle: I didn't notice any significant movement this time. going through the middle, but I haven't used that for the actual shoot yet, so I'll hold off on my final decision until I've actually walked her through production and analyzed the footage in post... but I am cautiously optimistic. Thank you Neewer customer service team. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 12/18/20. I've had this slider for a few months now and unfortunately I can confirm what some other reviewers have mentioned: - There is significant free play in the middle. Swivel plate to which you attach the camera. This is quite tedious and I am currently trying (unsuccessfully as now) to find a suitable fix/workaround. - When the slider goes through the middle, there is extra friction/judder. This affects about half of my frames, especially when moving left to right. For my purposes, this renders the footage unusable at this point. I suspect if you're taking landscape/horizon interval shots this might not be an issue. But for my purposes of shooting video and tracking a subject at close to medium distances, this is a big problem, forcing me to cut or avoid many unnecessary frames in a post. Overall this is a 3.5 star product with a value at the highest level. Of course, there are a few downsides that can make life difficult for you, but if you can find workarounds to solve these problems, this product for less than $300 can help you with your motorized slider game.
