Review on 🌡️ Proster Digital Thermocouple Temperature Thermometer: Dual Channel K-Type Thermometer with Backlight LCD and Two K-Type Thermocouple Probes for Various Types (K/J/T/E/R/S/N) by James Broome

I was surprised at the price and functionality of this thermometer. Most importantly, it can work with Type E and Type J thermocouples in addition to Type K (included). I've tested it with Type K and E ice and boiling point thermocouples and the readings were within 1.2,1.5C of the expected temperatures. Interestingly, the difference seems to be due to the cold junction compensation, because with the most accurate thermocouple E, the temperature of ice was +1°C and that of boiling water was 101°C. If the thermocouple input is shorted, the thermometer is expected to read the ambient temperature , with a deviation of about 1 °C, and there is also a random spread of the readings of 0.5 °C (surprisingly, the readings of the two channels can differ by 0.3-0.6 °C in part). The thermometer has an averaging mode that can reduce scatter by increasing the measurement time. In general, the thermometer is not bad for its price and allows you to measure the temperature with an accuracy of 2-3 ° C within the operating range of thermocouples, which corresponds to the accuracy specified in the instructions. It would be nice if the user could calibrate and calibrate the memory (like more expensive thermometers). The type K thermocouples supplied are Teflon-coated and can be operated up to 260 °C. If a larger range is required, additional fiberglass insulated thermocouples or stainless steel housings may be required. I give it 4 stars because it doesn't have perfect cold junction compensation and no way to reset/calibrate it. PS I calibrated it with a type E thermocouple to get an accuracy of 0.8°C.
