The bracket flexes slightly and the movement increases at the bottom of the filter. It seems that for such a heavy filter it could be made stiffer by welding pieces of metal to the sides. When first installed it was dripping from outgoing threads. I used a few turns of teflon tape and pipe grease. I disassembled it, cleaned the adapter plastic and threads, and this time just used teflon tape, many, many turns. I also saw that there is a ledge or stop on the back of the plastic thread. I had an o-ring that fit perfectly so I installed it. I'm not sure if the reducer comes into contact with this or not. In order not to duplicate a lot of work, always use only Teflon tape and apply it very carefully, tightly and evenly. Lots of wraps. And tighten. The 5 micron filter I received filters rust out of my water and the water is very clean. I'm happy with that.
