Review on BrosTrend 1200Mbps WiFi Extender – Boost Internet Signal, Expand Coverage up to 1300 sq.ft. in Home, Extend 2.4GHz & 5GHz Dual Band Wi-Fi, Easy Setup by Michael Vargas

Easy to use but no features

I have two WiFi extenders at home, one expensive and one cheap. This cheap Wi-Fi extender definitely works and gets the job done, but there are some significant differences when compared to more expensive brands that cost $80-$100. The interface for managing BrosTrend is very simple (which is a good thing). You can't fix the channels that a 2.4G or 5G radio is using, which can come in handy when you need to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connection dropouts due to channel congestion. You cannot track devices connected to the BrosTrend Wi-Fi Extender from your main router because the BrosTrend Wi-Fi Extender and all devices connected to it will show up on your router with the same MAC address (even if they are all different have IP addresses). . This can mess up your QoS rules on your router as the router cannot see the actual download and upload speeds of the devices connected to the extender. You also can't automatically update the firmware like you can with Netgear or Linksys expanders. First you need to go to the Shenzhen, China website, download the updated firmware, and then install it from the management interface. Internet connection, Spotify, Netflix, Nest etc.
