Dude, that stuff is cheap. I have to admit that the headphones had the sound of my TV. And, despite the ubiquitous hum, aside from the very low headphone volume, it was pretty decent audio quality considering. But then I discovered that the only way to turn off the base station was to remove the batteries. Whether it was on or off, the red light was on and the signal from the TV was being sent to the headphones. So I decided to open the base unit's plastic case to see if anything was wrong. That's when I noticed that one of the wires from the battery area wasn't connected exactly to the circuit board, so I removed the circuit board and decided to solder the wire in place. And that seemed to solve the on-off problem until another wire broke. Each end of the ultra-fine wire came off at least once, and I ended up with the same problem I started with - the switch won't turn off the device. If there are batteries in the device, it is always on. So I plan to replace the super cheap micro wire with a thicker one, it's better to calibrate tomorrow and try to re-solder the thing.
