Strong magnets and hard material work well for clamping in a vise protecting the work piece
The magnets are strong enough to hold onto the vise jaws and the length is good for the one I use most which jaws are sized 4-1/2 inches. I like the material, which is not too soft and therefore does not reduce the possibility of clamping something in a vise without slipping while working.
