Our dog kept getting her leash tangled around her legs when she walked close to us if we weren't vigilant on managing the slack in the leash. This leash fixes this problem. I purposely got the next size larger for our dog because she was near the cut-off weight-wise for the leash recommended for her weight. My logic was that the gearing would be sturdier because it was designed for a larger and stronger dog. The gears are just plastic after all.The gentle pressure on the leash seems to remind her that I'm moving on when she stops for the 5,000th time on a walk to sniff. There is rarely a need to use any force to get her to break away from that fascinating scent and continue the walk. A gentle tug when I hit the end of the lead is all it usually takes and she happily moves on to the next smell.So far it is holding up well.
