Review on HighPoint RocketRAID 2680SGL PCI Express Controller by Jeff Leu

I received this card for a new WHS build I was making. Works with 6 internal Hitachi Deskstar 2TB 3.5" CoolSpin RPM SATA III 6Gb/s 32MB 0F12117 hard drives in the LIAN LI PC-Q08R. Nice compact server. There were no problems with the card at all, I had to buy a few SFF-8087- Buy cables to connect drives, boot, initialize as RAID-5 array in card's BIOS, install Windows Home Server 2011 64-bit English 1pk DSP OEM System Builder DVD 10 Client and then format, takes some time, to format 12TB of space With a RAID 5 setup I have a total of just under 10TB of space Works well for me It's not a hardware RAID card, it offloads parity XOR calculations to the CPU, so it's slower as a "real" hardware RAID card, but for its intended purpose (storing jpg, mp3 and family video files in one place) I have no problem with speed Very happy with this card
