Appearances are a bit deceptive. When I opened the middle compartment in which we had to pack extra clothes, it turned out to be very small (just the looks). I started packing my husband's clothes just to see how much I could fit in that extra bag. Now he wears 2XL in a t-shirt, XL is short. I packed 1 pair of cotton shorts and 7 cotton t-shirts. I could keep going while it expands into the back compartment. This is perfectly normal as the front compartment is uncompromising and offers plenty of space. I bought it so we can do a 10 day trip with carry on luggage and a travel backpack. I'm pretty sure this will include everything that is an overflow and then some. I also wanted to make sure it met the airlines requirements for personal items as we fly from a very small airport and they are very picky about the rules. Great price and delivery was very fast. Very happy
