Another option if you're having trouble with Comcast

I've done a lot of research on this modem and found that a lot of people have trouble using the modem on Comcast's high speed internet system (especially the Blast!) Two things which I had to do to make sure it was working properly. 1) Make sure you have a decent Comcast phone tech listening to you (call back a couple of times if needed) and make sure your CMAC address is correctly registered in the system. Check it out a few times if you must. 2) This is something I've rarely heard of. I asked a Comcast tech to call home because the cable modem went offline (it said it was online but gave me blinking amber uplink and downlink lights). The technician looked at the wiring going into my house and noticed that many of them had splitters and extensions. They caused a lot of signal noise on the lines. He pulled out everything I didn't need and checked the status of Arris's modem. (Type 192.168.100.1 in a browser to verify.) He told me that the power should be less than -10dBmV downstream and less than 50dBmV upstream. I've been tracking this and both numbers have been fine for the last 36 hours and I haven't had any crashes. Hope that helps. It was the only DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem I could afford and I'm very glad I don't have to return it.
