I like the anodized finish, it has a good thickness, numbers and markings are easy to read, but unfortunately it has two main disadvantages. The edges of the square are rough, resulting in jagged lines. I was expecting grounded edges like most metal squares. If you're using a large carpenter's pencil this won't be a problem, but if you're using a mechanical pencil you'll get jagged lines. The second and biggest downside is that the black fence is dangling. This black part has approximately 1/32 inch or 1mm of play. Basically you need to have another square to line up this one and carefully tighten the two screws. It took me over 30 minutes to fiddle with it to get it decently square, but I'm afraid it will move if I accidentally hit it. The bottom line is that this isn't a good option if you want a square that you can count on to be exactly at a 90 degree angle. I will return mine
