Negative reviews are misleading
I'm only writing here because of some negative reviews: If you have a decent soldering iron, know how to use it and use a THIN or tapered tip. You shouldn't have any problems. I have used these jacks to convert several pairs of Grados to detachable cord headphones and have had no problems with the jacks. To be honest the soldering was the easiest part of the job (seriously). They were easy to solder, but I also used a stand with alligator clips to keep them stable. The sockets are admittedly small, but the tools you use are also important.
