I bought two 55 gallon bags and I really think 35 pounds would do, the gravel was pretty deep. However, it's nice to have a spare in case I get a bigger tank. They're a nice dark black color, I rinsed them out a few pounds at a time with a fine metal mesh strainer and dug the spray nozzle into the rocks, the water cleared straight away so it seemed to be working fine. I only picked 3 stones out of the 50 lbs because they were uncolored, excellent quality control at this ratio. Black really helps to make everything bright.
