I would not recommend this particular tofu press. I've been pressing tofu with plates and weights for 30 years and was thrilled to discover a tofu press. The tofu block I usually use is 14 oz. and I'm pretty strong, but I couldn't push the top hard enough to lock the clamps. Forget a larger block of tofu like the 16 ounce block, I had to cut about 1/4 inch off the top to even come close to pinching it. I believe if the spring were a little shorter and/or the clamps a little longer, this tofu press could be used for 14 oz, 16 oz or 19 oz blocks of tofu with the same result of removing water and creating a firmer block of tofu.
