You won't need this product until you see how much easier and less messy it is. It's not easy to close when you have a thick piece of tofu, but it works quickly and pulls out a lot of liquid, much more than with heavy plates etc. I love that I can open, tuck in and put the tofu in. in the fridge for later. I couldn't do it with a cutting board or plates. After pressing, simply remove the tofu and rinse the press. It doesn't take up too much space.

I bought the clear plastic model because from the photos it looks like it's made from tough polycarbonate plastic which shouldn't warp in the dishwasher . made of cheaper and more plastic plastic. A brand new version of the box, the plastic is already warped (although usable) and I have no doubt it will warp even more in the dishwasher. Don't buy the clear plastic version because you think it's a better material than the other version.

This product is great for pressing tofu. Before I bought this, I had to constantly buy paper towels to wipe away the liquid while I pressed my tofu. This device eliminates the need for paper towels, which means I no longer have to go to the store before I can start preparing dinner just to make sure I have them. When I first bought and tried it it didn't work because my tofu was too thick. The metal coil did not allow to close the side latches. Love the color, the size, the easy cleaning, easy storage and refrigeration, and ease of use. I didn't want to return them and was trying to find a way to use them for their intended purpose. I would not recommend this particular tofu press. I've been pressing tofu with plates and weights for 30 years and was thrilled to discover a tofu press. The tofu block I usually use is 14 oz. and I'm pretty strong, but I couldn't push the top hard enough to lock the clamps. Forget a larger block of tofu like the 16 ounce block, I had to cut about 1/4 inch off the top to even come close to pinching it. I did this first with a 14 oz. hard tofu packaging. The press was easy to use. Place the tofu in the perforated tray, place the unperforated tray on top, place both in the main spring tray.
