The unit itself looks very high quality. We had the unit professionally installed by a licensed plumber while we installed a new water heater. After the plumber left I noticed water seeping out of the pressure release button. Thinking that it just wasn't sealed properly or that there was some dirt stuck in it, I turned off the water and tried various ways to fix it. After the pressure was built up again, it just kept dripping. It also didn't seal over time. I'm not surprised, because the pressure release button only cost Pentek 6 cents to produce. A small screw with a tiny rubber washer and a cheap spring that then threads into a red plastic button. Water seeps into the screw hole because a cheap rubber washer and water pressure are not enough to seal it. I ended up just plugging the hole with the supplied screw and two tapered washers. one inside and one outside. Then I added a metal nut to the end and tightened it until there were no more leaks. I realized those pressure release buttons are just tricks. . You don't even have to. Simply turn off the main water supply in your home and turn on faucets throughout the house to drain the water and depressurize the pipes. You can then unscrew the filter housing. Pentek does the same without the pressure release button. As said, the rest of the device is of excellent quality. It was simply ruined by a cheap, poorly designed button. Why this design came out I will never understand.
