I bought this to replace a desk lock that I didn't have a key for. The lock works great in my situation but as with other reviews there are a few things to be aware of. Although the description says for 1/2" to 1" thick drawers, it will NOT fit a 1" drawer. I know this because my drawer is less than 1" but I had trouble getting the hex nut to get into the lock. I had to use an electric screwdriver to cut some wood to fit the hex nut. After I fixed that, everything else went smoothly. Assembly after the tree was felled was quick. With this lock on mine desk drawer I feel safe.
